As the spiritual leaders of the church, the Session’s primary activity is that of discerning the will of God for the congregation through prayer, bible study, and group discernment. They meet twice a month and respond to whatever decisions need to be made to move the church forward in pursuing its mission.
Grace Wang (Personnel Elder) works in public health evaluations and enjoys hiking, cooking, and traveling. After living in Michigan, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, DC, and California, Grace finally figured out that the West coast is for her. She and her spouse Marcus live in Columbia City.
Sue Rush (Facilities) lives with her husband, Jim, on Beacon Hill. They are recent transplants from Idaho. Sue and Jim have three adult children; two in Seattle and one in Chicago. She is a retired geologist who was brought up in the Presbyterian Church. Her professional interests lined up nicely with faith when she was asked to serve on the church’s national task force on ecological justice. Since then, she has served on church committees at the national, presbytery, and local level. She also sweeps and takes out the trash. Sue is in charge of our Facility.
David Spohr (Worship & Children’s Ministry) is an attorney and third-party neutral. Originally from the other Washington, he lives with his wife and children in Montlake. Drawn to Madrona Grace’s blend of faith, justice, and community, he is now in charge of Worship and Children’s Ministry.
Katie Jones (Membership & Outreach) grew up in Tacoma and attended undergrad at Western. She currently lives in Seattle and works in the Parks & Recreation field specializing in youth and adult sports and fitness. She loves being outside, spending time with family and friends and being part of the Madrona Grace Community.
Tom Mesaros (Finance), and his wife Margaret, live in Edmonds, WA and have been involved with Madrona Grace for nearly 3 years now. Tom spent his career in not-for- profit management working on the consulting side for nearly the past 21 years and has just retired. Tom now enjoys golf, travel, and several volunteer opportunities; in addition, is currently a member of the Edmonds City Council.

Cynthia Wyrick-Dampier lives in the West Seattle area with her husband Edward and their children. Cynthia has worked in the church administration and management field for over 10 years. She has a soft heart for children’s ministry and currently coordinates our nursery and children’s worship.
Edward Dampier lives in the West Seattle area with his wife and their children. He works full time for Tirto Furniture in the Capital Hill area as the warehouse manager. Edward is in charge of maintaining a clean and organized building and grounds. He has over 10 years experience in warehouse and janitorial field.
